No cookies, just insights. Made and hosted in the EU. 🇪🇺 The counts you care about live in the EU. That is a product choice, not a checkbox on a US vendor’s trust centre.

Plausible’s public line adds “powered by European-owned infrastructure.” They pick EU-owned vendors. We host in EU regions — Frankfurt functions, Ireland Postgres. Vercel is still a US company. The pageviews do not leave the EU. That is the honest version of the same sentence.

What “hosted in Frankfurt” means

Beacons hit Vercel in Frankfurt. Pageviews are stored in Postgres in the EU — Ireland (eu-west-1), not Virginia. We do not forward rows to an advertising graph. The compute region is pinned in git so it cannot silently drift to a US function.

What we will not pretend

Sign-in with Google or X leaves our region — those companies are the identity provider. A Turnstile check on email login, when it runs, is Cloudflare — not a pageview export, and not Google reCAPTCHA. Marketing type is self-hosted (Newsreader and Source Sans), not a public font CDN. None of those is your visitors’ pageview history. The history stays in the EU.

We also will not say “GDPR compliant” as if that were a sticker. Cookie Free Analytics is designed so a cookie banner is not required for this script. Your counsel still owns the final call for your site.

Why it matters

EU sites have spent a decade explaining US transfers to visitors who only wanted a recipe. Putting the counter in the EU is the boring way to stop having that conversation about analytics.
