What Consent Mode actually does
When someone clicks Reject, GA4 often loses the hit. Consent Mode can keep some signals and fill the hole with a model. A model is not a count of the people who opened the page. Campaigns that send privacy-conscious readers still look weaker than they are.
That stack exists because Google sells ads. Identity is the product. Pageviews are a side effect. If you need audiences and remarketing, keep GA4. If you wanted to know whether /pricing loaded after Reject, you wanted a smaller instrument.
What we count instead
Cookie Free Analytics sends one tiny request when the HTML runs. No cookie, no localStorage, no fingerprint. There is nothing to accept for this script. We record the landing, the source, the five UTM tags, and a named goal if you fire cfa('signup').
We will not publish a dual-run percentage table. Your two totals, same week, are the case study. Many sites run both: GA4 for ads, us for the unblocked count. Searchers looking for a google analytics alternative gdpr usually want that baseline — not another modeled hole.
